- Entrants may enter the competition on air by phoning through and answering preliminary questions on

- Successful entrants who correctly answer the questions on the telephone service or from entering online will be called for a second round of questioning by the Brain producer. The entrant must answer at least 60% of these questions correctly, in order to progress to playing the game on air.
- Should the entrant successfully win a round on-air, they will be scheduled to compete in the following round on-air, against a new entrant.
- Should an entrant successfully win one round but lose subsequent rounds, they will not be entitled to re-enter the campaign for that calender year.
- The entrant who successfully prevails at the end of the final execution of the day will be invited to compete in the live outside broadcast at the weekend's activation. (Quarter-finals for the four weeks followed by the semi-final).
- The weekend activations will pit the week's winners (Monday through Friday - five competitors) against each other for a place in the semifinals to be held on the last Saturday of the campaign.
- All of the quarter-final winners from week one through to four will be invited to play in the semi-final play-off on the final weekend activation. The winner of the semifinals will be invited to play live on air against the winner of the Brain in Cape Town.
- Each round-winner on-air gets R1 000 in cash. The winner of each quarter-final gets R5 000 in cash. The Brain of CapeTalk gets R15 000 in cash. The Brain of Brains gets R20 000 in cash.
